I don't think I got this one.
There are some interesting elements, like the juxtaposition between the convent and the chaotic jumble of personal relationships we experience through the phone. The characterization was good as well. I can't say the pacing was bad, and the story was entertaining.
But I just don't really see a point or a resonant message. It feels like the story has things it's trying to express about our current condition, about the contrast between the isolation and devotion of life as a nun versus the ambiguity and difficulty of open relationships, but it doesn't feel able to explore them very much. It suffers from a common condition in contemporary fiction where a reference to something is treated as a terminal point, an achievement, when in fact a reference is just the starting point of something to build on.
